To ensure that employees feel safe and are given the opportunity to tell what is important to them. And that you jointly make good, concrete and useful agreements and plans that match both the employees’ and the workplace’s strategies and goals.

    Enhance the performance conversation with pictures
    The performance interview is an important part of the employee’s development. The performance conversation is used by both manager and employee to reconcile development needs and wishes. Therefore, it is important that the performance interview is conducted so that it is relevant and allows both parties to speak openly and honestly. By giving the performance conversation a visual perspective, the conversation can become deeper and more nuanced. The pictures are used to illustrate points in the conversation, but also as reminders in the employee’s development, which follows.

    New framework – new results
    A Performance conversation is something special. Therefore, it must be experienced differently than everyday meetings between manager and employee. When you use picture cards in the performance conversation, you create a completely new framework for the dialogue. An informal and stress-free space for conversation, innovation and development. This will be reflected in the results of the performance interview.

    It pays to keep skilled employees
    Every time an employee seeks away from the workplace, it costs dearly.     A team leader in a Danish transport company has used Visual Performance Review in his employee interviews. – And the employees want her to keep doing that.

    The transport company had undergone a massive rebuild. This has created great challenges – not least for the employees in the canteen, who have had to work in changing kitchens and deliver meals to several addresses.

    “When we were going to have Performance Review interviews, I thought that the canteen staff would especially tell me about how their jobs had been sour and cumbersome during the period,” says the team leader. But that did not happen.

    She says that the HR department uses Dialoogle’s concept Visual Performance Reviews because the picture cards not only make employees feel safe by telling them how they feel about their jobs. But also because the cards make them look more nuanced in their working lives.

    Introduce the framework of the conversation to the employee and briefly explain how the picture-based conversation will take place. – Then align your expectations so that goals and values are clear to both parties before the conversation begins.

    1. Spread a Pocket Set out in front of you.
    2. Choose one picture card each, which represents the most important thing you hope to get out of the conversation.
    3. Tell each one why you have chosen that particular card.
    4. Choose one card each, which symbolizes what you think you should pay attention to during the conversation.
    5. Tell others about your choice of picture card.
    6. Lay the cards on the table and let them remind you of the goal and the values that are important to the conversation.

    A taste of Dialoogle’s concept Visual Performance Review, which makes your employees feel safe and makes you wiser about what gives them job satisfaction.

    Find a nice place to hold the performance review – and place a Pocket Set on the table in the room.
    At the beginning of the conversation, you ask the employee to think about their work tasks and the value the work creates in the team. Then give the employee two to three minutes to find three picture cards to help answer the following three questions:
    “What makes you happy?”
    “What challenges diminish your job satisfaction?”
    “What new tasks would you like?”
    If necessary, let the employee deal with one question at a time.
    Then you give the employee the opportunity to tell about his three choices without interruption. Then enter into dialogue.
    As a manager, you must now point to one of the three motives and tell where you see the employee’s strength (s).
    The employee then decides which of the three picture cards best describes future work tasks that provide job satisfaction in everyday life.
    You ask about how and why in a good dialogue with the employee.
