Coaching exercise with the Compass
This coaching exercise is ideal for profound conversations aimed at analyzing personal challenges, finding solutions and creating a basis for decisions. The Dialoogle pictures will help the focus person clarify his inner vision of the situation and concentrate on how to deal with the challenge.
-
Spread all the Dialoogle picture cards in front of the focus person.
- Ask the person to pick four cards. One that represents the purpose of the conversation; one which says something about the challenge he is facing; one symbolizing a positive experience he can draw on; and finally a card that represents his doubts.
- Now, place the cards on the table as four compass points, and use the cards as the frame of reference for coaching questions.
- »When you look at these four pictures, which one is the most important to you?«
- »Which picture gives you the most reason to believe that you will overcome your challenge?«
- »Try to pick another card which could be part of the solution and place it where you think it fits best in the compass.«
- Continue the coaching exercise by following standard coaching principles.
During the coaching exercise, you may try to turn the picture symbolizing the challenge face down and ask the focus person: »What would be your options if reality looked like this?« You may also place the four.

Brain
90% of the brain’s sensory input comes from visual sources. Images start thought tracks in the brain. If they cross each other in new combinations, new ideas emerge.
Creativity
Creativity unfolds when we use imagery and try to combine different and seemingly independent motifs with each other.
